De Rotterdam Neitherland : Vibrant and Adaptable

Architectural genius is not something one can see every day. The one here comes to our scanner is a city in itself. Yes, it is one of the buildings which has shortlisted for Archaic awards 2015. It is De Rotterdam situated in Rotterdam, Neither land. What makes it stand out from the rest is the area it covers, because being a vast building it expands to wide area but at the same time it is very compact from inside which helps in putting up with large number of rooms from commercial to residential to entertainment to leisure. This makes De Rotterdam one of the major contributors in the economy of Rotterdam. Almost contains everything and connecting three glass towers together, it earned the title of Vertical City. The location of De Rotterdam is very eye-catching because it is situated between KPN tower and Rotterdam Cruise Terminal, exactly above river Mass which gives a very magnificent view.

The construction of De Rotterdam has started in 2009 and completed in 2013. Architectures who are engaged in this project are Rem Koolhas, Reinier de Graaf, Ellen van Loon and Kees van Casteren. It was developed by MAB development and OVG Real Estate. It a three interconnected glass tower overlapping each other. The amazing fact here is that it looks different from each angle. The thought behind such Structure was to make it adaptable for every situation as conformed by Rem Koolhas. It contains 44 floors which reach up to the height of 150 meters and covers the area of 162000.0 sqm. It has created in such a way that in other words it covers every aspect of life. That is so because with the accommodation of residential apartments, office blocks, commercial shops, leisure rooms, cafes and restaurants, more or less, De Rotterdam is creating a culture of unity in diversity. The Construction itself is the evidence. Whole building is constructed on a common plinth and the same is further extending as a common conference hall which is used by the people for casual and leisurely meeting.
