Long Museum West Band is a private museum found by Liu Yiqian and Wang Wei in 2014. It was China’s first largest private museum at that time. The architectural design has given by Shanghai Firm - Atelier Deshaus. The designing has led by Liu Yichun and Chen Yifeng with his team of Wang Longhai, Wu Zhenghui, Chen Kun, Wang Weishi and Wang Xuepei. It is located at the bank of Huangpu River in Xuhui District of Shanghai Municipality. The museum is exactly built in the site which was used as landing stage for coal transportation. Before the construction of museum, there was a Coal Hopper Unloading Bridge measured 110m, 10m and 8m as length, width and height respectively in 1950’s. About two years ago it has turned into two storey underground basement. To add an historical appeal to the museum, instead of demolishing the area, Liu Yichun chose to keep the underground basement as it is and made the museum around it by keep it as a centre point. 

Long Museum West Bund is designed as a cantilever structure in the shape of “Vault Umbrella”. The walls are independent from each other due to the major construction constraint. Due to the construction around an old industrial site the walls with free layout inserted intro original basement.  The first storey of underground basement has turned into exhibition centre. Over the ground various orientation are visible due to the connection of “vault umbrella” at various direction. The Mechanical and electrical system has been integrated in “vault umbrella” structure. The interior of museum is simple and primordial. The walls are made of concrete with white finishing. The stairs are spiral in shape and runs downward connected with exhibition centre in first floor. The museum is realistic as well as has its own historical significance molded in “white box”.
