Recently inaugurated Harbin Opera House is the lucrative project which will contribute towards the enhancement and fortification of performing arts in China. It is designed by MAD Architects along with Beijing Institute of Architectural Design as Associate Engineer. The design of the Harbin Opera House was the winner of International Open Competition in 2010. Since than the construction of Harbin Opera House has started and completed in 2015. It was inaugurated in 15 December 2015. The Harbin Opera House is located at 230 Diduan St, Daoli, Harbin in Heilongjiang surrounded by wetland landscape throughout the length of Songhua River of Harbin.

Harbin Opera House is a cultural centre situated in Northern China, covering the space of 850,000 sqaure feet over the total area of 444 acres. It consists of curvilinear façade of white aluminum panels. Its atrium consist of sculptural timber staircase is cladded with wooden element .The first space any visitor could enter is grand lobby surrounded by glass walls which seems to connect the curvilinear interior with breathtaking façade and the plaza situated at the exterior. There is a lightweight diagrid structure bear the crystalline glass curtain wall composed of transparent pyramids. The main room is covered with ash wood paralleled with timber woods leads to main stage which embellished skylights. The grand theatre can accommodate 1,600 people while the small theatre accommodates 400 people especially utilized for intimate performance. The ethereal design of Harbin Opera House finely blends with the serene and soothing atmosphere of surrounding.
